LIFE CLINMED-FARM presents new results on livestock emission mitigation at EmiLi 2026

28/09/2026

The LIFE CLINMED-FARM project presented new research findings at the EmiLi 2026 conference, held in Aarhus, Denmark. The study, titled “Effect of Manure Additives on Ammonia and Nitrogen Oxides Emissions during Storage”, was presented by Elio Dinuccio from the University of Turin.

The research evaluated the effectiveness of different manure additives in reducing ammonia (NH3) and nitrogen oxide emissions during cattle manure storage. The work combined controlled laboratory experiments with pilot-scale validation trials carried out on commercial farms in the Piedmont region of Italy.

The results showed significant reductions in ammonia emissions under specific experimental conditions, although additive performance varied according to manure characteristics and storage conditions. The findings highlight the importance of further research to identify the conditions under which these technologies can be used most effectively to improve the environmental sustainability of livestock farming.

This study forms part of the activities of the LIFE CLINMED-FARM project, which aims to develop climate-neutral farming solutions for Mediterranean agricultural systems.
